Trusting God in the Transitions with Malana Bracht | Episode 158
When God calls, the journey isn’t always clear, smooth, or comfortable. Yet, it’s through the challenges and uncertainties that He often does His most profound work. This was the theme of my latest conversation with Malana Bracht, pastor’s wife and co-author of Holy Spirit, Have Your Way. Her testimony is a remarkable story of healing, trusting God through transitions, and boldly stepping into the calling He has placed on her life.
If you missed our first conversation on Episode 67, I encourage you to listen to it for a deeper dive into Malana’s testimony. But today, I want to share the highlights from our latest chat and the lessons we can take from her incredible journey.

The Unexpected Path
Malana’s life has been anything but predictable. She and her husband, Travis, were led by God to move from Oklahoma to Charleston, South Carolina, in faith, without knowing what was ahead. On the very day they arrived, Malana discovered she was pregnant. As if that wasn’t enough, a hurricane was on its way. It was a whirlwind of change, but through it all, God was orchestrating their steps.
In Charleston, Malana and her family faced significant transitions. They experienced the challenges of finding a church, building community, and discerning their purpose in a new city. It was during this time that Malana began a two-and-a-half-year journey of healing—spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.
Healing to Be Used
Malana opened up about her struggles with feeling unworthy and out of place in ministry. Growing up in generational poverty and experiencing wounds from her past, she wrestled with shame and a lack of confidence. She had to confront the belief that her personality and gifting didn’t fit the mold of what a pastor’s wife “should” be.
“You can’t minister out of wounds,” Malana said. “If you don’t deal with those hurts, you’ll recreate them in your ministry, your family, or your children.”
Through God’s grace, she found healing. She shared how her time in Charleston allowed her to discover her giftings, trust others in leadership, and embrace the unique way God designed her to serve.
Returning Home with Purpose
While Malana and Travis initially thought they might plant a church in Charleston, God had other plans. They realized their time there was about preparation. When they looked back, they could see how God had equipped them for their next season of ministry. In 2022, they returned to Oklahoma City, where they inherited a small church, restructured it, and created a new congregation.
This transition wasn’t without its challenges, but it’s clear that God’s hand was in every detail. The Bracht family moved into a new building and found themselves in a strategic part of the city, poised to bring light to an influential yet spiritually challenging area. Their obedience has already borne fruit, and they’re excited for what’s ahead.
Lessons on Revival and Calling
One of the most powerful parts of our conversation was Malana’s perspective on revival. Referencing Jessi Green’s quote “Revival is already here. Act accordingly.” She challenged listeners to stop waiting and start asking God where He wants to use them in their families, communities, and churches.
Malana emphasized the importance of being prepared to steward the harvest. “We all pray for revival, but we don’t always think about the stewardship that comes after. Get your systems in place. Get your discipleship programs ready. Revival isn’t just about growth—it’s about sustaining that growth for God’s glory.”
Encouragement for Pastor’s Wives
As we wrapped up our conversation, Malana offered encouragement specifically for pastor’s wives. She reminded us that each of us is uniquely gifted and called for a purpose.
“If you’re struggling to see where you fit, remember that God designed you exactly as you are for a reason. Step into that calling with boldness and trust Him to work through you.”
Are you ready to embrace your calling and step into what God has for you? Malana encourages you to seek healing, trust God’s process, and be prepared for the harvest in this season of revival.
